How did this all start? Good question!
I hate the F-word. That may be my generation, or the copious use of it for some effect that I don’t understand, but whatever the reason it just seems unnecessary to me. I am fully aware that not all, or even a majority, will likely agree with me. But we’re talking about the beginning . . .
While creating canvas banners for a craft show before Christmas, I was pumping them out, when into my head popped “The best F-bomb is FACTS.” That phrase captured my thoughts well. So I made a banner. Before it ever got to the show the owner of our local breakfast place, The Mustang Café, grabbed it up and hung it. She said there was a group of regulars who could sure use that! I ended up selling two more before the show.
In another arena in my life I was dealing with the issue of people not talking with one another. Have you noticed, it’s a rather universal issue? Talking meaning more than “Hi, how are ya?” and not caring about the response – if there is one.
Over the holidays Skye, my daughter, and Gail, my sister, and I talked through our strengths and weaknesses and decided to create a business together. The core of our purpose was to put something out there that would hopefully start conversations. Short, pithy sayings, plus simple design = conversation starters. What better way to get them “out there” than t-shirts.
Each Friday morning at 8:00 EST finds us on a conference call working out all the details. Each contributing what they do best—and not having to do what they don’t do well. That in a nutshell is how Oh my! Arts was born. Say it with a T(shirt)!
